Wake Up, Ghent! Dag Van De Jeugdbeweging

12/10/2025

Friday 17 October marks the annual Dag van de Jeugdbeweging — the one morning of the year when thousands of young people don't mind setting their alarm extra early. Across Flanders, members of all youth movements proudly wear their uniforms to celebrate the joy, friendship, and energy that define youth life.

In Ghent, the celebration kicks off at the Kouter, where a free breakfast and an early morning party await everyone in uniform. Starting at 6:30 AM, the square will come alive with music, laughter, and the unmistakable buzz of young energy getting ready for the day ahead.

This year, the decks will be in the hands of two DJs who know how to get a crowd moving: DJ Lau and Sebsky. Together, we'll spin the best tracks from 7:00 to 8:30 AM, making sure every sleepy face is replaced by a smile (and maybe a few dance moves before school).

Alongside the beats, there's plenty of side entertainment and activities to keep the atmosphere high. But remember: only those in uniform are eligible for the free breakfast — so make sure to wear your shirt, scarf, or tie with pride.

So, polish those shoes, iron that uniform, and get ready — because this Friday, Ghent wakes up to the sound of youth.
